Hera's story...

This sweetheart of a momma is about 2 years old and came in as a stray to the local shelter. She is too far along to spay/abort as she is due any minute. Our rescue is FULL right now, but we did not want her to have her babies on a cold, concrete floor... so she came home with us until a rescue is found for her and her babies.

This rescue would need to be on the west coast since the puppies cannot fly until they are older. The rescue must agree to alter ALL the pups and mom before put up for adoption, no spay/neuter contracts. We also ask that the pups and mom are kept together for the minumum of 8 weeks.... some people try to seperate them at 6 and that is a little too young since they need to learn dog communication, socialization as well as bite inhibition.

Mom seems very low on the Dog Aggressive scale so far, she is very sweet and gentle and loves her belly rubbed!

UPDATE: Hera had her THIRTEEN babies on August 20th, 2007 starting at 1:43am. So far all of the "kids" are doing well and thriving, but we are still desperate to find a rescue that can take them. UPDATE: 8/30/07

Well Hera is blossoming and so are her kids! They are now over a week old and one of them (Ceberus) opened one eye this evening.

UPDATE:

Ok guys, the day of transfer is almost upon us. Hera and her babies will be going to Bullseye Rescue on Thursday the 6th!

By the end of October when they are old enough, PNWPBR will probably be taking 3-6 of them back to help Bullseye place them since they don't have 13 foster slots and we don't either.

Bullseye is collecting donations for the large spay/neuter bill these kids will have, along with vaccinations and de-worming and supplements if Hera cannot continue to feed them.
